Two different things

Snitt is an app that runs on your Mac. snitt.app is a website. They have different privacy stories and conflating them would be dishonest, so here is each on its own.

The app collects nothing

• Transcription runs on device. Audio is never uploaded.
• There is no account and no server. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to.
• No analytics, no telemetry. The only network request the app makes is Sparkle checking for updates.
• Input logging records keystroke timing, never characters, is off by default, and stays inside the recording's bundle.
• The picker appears every time you record, so nothing is captured that you did not just select.

You do not have to take this on trust. The app is MPL-2.0 and the source for every released build is public and tagged.

This website collects page views

snitt.app uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records page views and basic performance timings taken from the browser's own Performance API. It sets no cookies, uses no client-side storage, and does not fingerprint you or track you across other sites. There is no advertising network involved and nothing is sold or shared.

If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker will stop the beacon, and the site works exactly the same without it. Nothing on this site requires JavaScript to read.

What this site never does

There are no forms, no sign-up, no newsletter and no contact field, so there is nothing here that could collect a name or an email address. Downloads go directly to GitHub, under their privacy policy rather than ours.
